Workshops focus on particular aspects of explorations relevant to Robert’s current choreographic work:

- Working within real time choreography systems created by Robert, or with the participants as the workshop progresses.

- Working with improvisation and its consequences on developing and communicating pre-determined meaning to an audience.

- Examining different modes of performance, for example performing the pragmatic, demonstrating task and projecting sensation.

- Creating balance between full and free movement and the need to remain within a choreographic criteria.

Classes are based on the physical and spatial tools and structures that Robert uses in the creation and performance of his choreographic work. Classes and workshops incorporate a range of styles including: release-based techniques, body awareness exercises, pure dance combinations, contact improvisation and partnering skills, techniques for actors and live performance, games and some basic elements drawn from martial arts practice.
