As part of the Nottdance 2013 festival Robert was invited to take part in Susi & Gabi’s Salon. The Salon is a dialogue between host artists Gabriele Reuter and Susanne Martin, a group of invited guests and the audience. The evenings revolve around the phenomenon of Improvisation as performance, choreography and research. Inspired by this improvisational approach Robert (who was working in Austria at the time) asked Austrian based dance artist Anna Novak to record for him a vocal score that he wouldn’t hear until the day of the performance and that he would respond to for the audience. The recording (which you can hear above) was posted to England and opened in front of the Audience at the start of the performance, before being relayed to Robert, spoken aloud by a another guest artist of the Salon that evening Pete Shenton (New Art Club).
